Alana Peterson – Gah Kith Tin is Yéil (raven) moiety, L’uknax.ádi (coho) clan, Daginaa Hít (Out in the Ocean Salmon Box House).  She was born and raised in Sitka. Alana is executive director of Spruce Root, Inc., a Southeast Alaska-based, Native-led Community Development Financial Institution. Alana has owned several local businesses in Sitka, and currently serves on the board of Outer Coast College.  She has a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Charleston Southern University and a master’s degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University.  After graduating from college, she served in the Peace Corps as a small business development volunteer for two years on the southern coast of Peru.
